Gov. Ricketts Names Susan I. Strong to 3rd Judicial District Judgeship
Lincoln – Today, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced his appointment of Susan I. Strong of Lincoln to the District Court, 3rd Judicial District.
Strong, 55, has served as a judge for the Lancaster County Court, 3rd Judicial District, since 2006. Previously, Strong served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, and worked in private practice in law offices in Denver and Lincoln.
Strong has served as Presiding Judge on the Lancaster County Court twice from 2008-2009 and 2014-2015 and was elected to the County Judges Association Executive Board in 2014. She is a chapter author of “The First Women of Nebraska Law” for The History of Nebraska Law, a book series on law, society, and politics in the Midwest.
Strong is a graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska.
The 3rd Judicial District includes the city of Lincoln, as well as several surrounding townships, including Bennet, Denton, Hickman, and Waverly.
Gov. Ricketts appointed Strong following the retirement of Judge Paul D. Merritt, Jr.
